In the specific application of processing plant, many people can't distinguish the difference between limit switch, photoelectric switch and proximity switch.





Proximity switch and photoelectric switch are three kinds of sensors with different basic principles, but the actual effect is the same. They are used to detect the direction angle.







Limit switch: also known as stroke power switch; It can be installed on relatively terminated objects (such as fixed structure, door pocket, etc. commonly known as still life sketch) or fitness objects (such as safe driving, door, etc.) When the object is close to its static service life, the crankshaft of the power switch pushes the contact of the power switch to open or close. The behavior of power circuit and organization is controlled by the change of power switch contact and closing. Limit switches can also be divided into rotary limit switches and instant limit switches. The interior of the limit switch is mainly the contact of mechanical equipment to make the contact switch or normally closed. The contact is passive, so there is no NPN or NPP. The input line is 24 V and the output line is 24 V, so it is not the importance of PLC.





Proximity switch: a sensor that can check the direction without direct contact with fitness components. Proximity switches are also known as contactless limit switches. Travel operation and extreme maintenance can be carried out. The sensor does not need to touch the raw material, but the raw material must be metal. Because it does not contact the tested raw materials, it has the characteristics of reliable actual operation, long service life, low function loss, high multi precision level, high output power, integration into extreme office environment and so on. The proximity switch is divided into PNP and NPN, so the PLC connection must be recognized when selecting the sensor.





Photoelectric switch: it uses the detected object to block or reflect light, turns on the power circuit according to the same control circuit, and then checks whether the object exists. Objects are not limited to metal materials, but can also detect all objects that refract light (or may block light). Photoelectric switch has diffusion type, reverse photography type, etc. Diffuse light only needs one sensor to send and receive, while for jet type, there must be two sensors, one to send and one to receive.





There are also NPN and PNP photoelectric switches, but in addition, photoelectric switches also have dry connection points. In other words, they can connect a PLC at will.
