Causes of total loss of switching power supply caused by silicone touch switch

The lower the output voltage of silicone touch switch, the greater the influence of rectifier voltage drop. If the output voltage is less than 5V, synchronous rectification must be adopted to achieve the efficiency of more than 80%. However, synchronous rectification makes the circuit complex. At the same time, at high frequency, the driving loss will increase significantly, which limits the improvement of efficiency. When the output voltage increases, the diode reverse recovery loss and buffer circuit loss will increase significantly. The on voltage drop of rectifier tube of low output voltage power supply is the main factor affecting the efficiency of the whole machine. The on loss can be estimated by multiplying the forward voltage drop of diode by the output current.





The filtering loss PF of silicone touch switch includes filtering inductance loss and capacitance loss. If it is a continuous mode inductor, the main loss is the coil loss, and the core loss can be ignored. The capacitor has a loss on the series equivalent resistance RESR. In the inductance continuous mode, the ripple current of the capacitor is small, the capacitor loss is also small, and the whole filter loss is less than about 1% of the output power. If it is a flyback transformer, the RESR loss of the capacitor increases greatly, and the filter loss is the capacitor loss. The rectifier circuit loss PR includes the on loss caused by the forward voltage drop of the rectifier, the off loss caused by the reverse recovery, and the buffer circuit loss to avoid the oscillation diode.
